The laboratory of Genetics, Horticulture and Seed Science (GBioS) has initiated hands-on activities for students of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences to better understand the theoretical concepts developed during lectures. From this perspective, different groups of students have been trained and assigned to the cultivation of various species namely watermelon, amaranth, big nightshade and pineapple. This training was organized around several steps taking into account the selection of the plant materials, the harvest of the plant materials, the sorting of the plant materials, the spacing to be used to optimize the fruit yield, the laying of the polyethylene films to limit the number of weeding and promote water availability over a longer period to the plant. The participants also benefited from the technical support of the producers. The crop will be followed up until the harvest scheduled for August / September 2019.
