This platform was established at the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences as a major strategic priority. The main objective of the tissue culture platform is to contribute to the high-throughput propagation of vegetative crops (e.g. potato, banana, pineapple) in Benin to strengthen the economic growth through healthy plant material provision. The tissue culture platform has recently been set up for to provide farmers with healthy seedlings. The platform is engaged in the micropropagation using meristems and shoots cultivation to produce large numbers of identical individuals, large-scale growth of plant cells in liquid culture as a source of secondary products. Students and professionals are also trained for capacity building.
