INTRODUCTION
The banana tree (Musa spp.) is a herbaceous plant of the Musaceae family, native to Southeast Asia,
widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions for its fruit rich in nutrients, vitamins
and minerals. It is an export crop from developing countries which also plays a major role in the
food and nutritional security of populations. In Benin, its production is carried out throughout the
national territory by small producers as a household crop. The plant provides the best performance in the
Guinean zone. This technical sheet provides practical advice for the installation and proper management
