INTRODUCTION
Perennial herbaceous plant, shrub or small tree up to 5 m high with young, densely tomentose branches, Vernonia amygdalina commonly called “Amanvivè” in French, belongs to the Asteraceae family. Present in the wild in certain countries of tropical Africa, Vernonia amygdalina is commonly cultivated as a leaf vegetable in the sub-region (Benin, Nigeria, Ghana). In Benin, its production is mainly done in urban areas by market gardeners.
