Idrissou AHOUDOU has successfully defended his PhD research at the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of the University of Abomey-Calavi. His study, titled “A Participatory Selection Approach and Modeling Methods for the Dissemination of Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato to Alleviate Vitamin A Deficiency in Human Nutrition in Benin,” was presented before a jury of distinguished professors and researchers.
As a beneficiary of the Sweet Potato project, funded by the African Union, AHOUDOU has contributed to improving the value chains of Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) for food and nutritional security in Benin, Niger, and Nigeria. His research provides an in-depth analysis of OFSP adoption dynamics, offering a roadmap for future initiatives aimed at promoting biofortified crops in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
His findings significantly contribute to agricultural development, nutrition, and food security, aligning with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, and Sustainable Agriculture. Moreover, his work has been published in renowned scientific journals, further advancing knowledge on Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato and its impact on human nutrition.
